President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The nomination was conveyed to the Senate on Monday in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, for confirmation.
Following the reshuffle, Uzoka-Anite has been reassigned to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third ministerial portfolio under the Tinubu administration.
Until his nomination, Oyedele served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which recently undertook a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system.
Oyedele, 50, is an economist, accountant and public policy expert from Ikaram, Akoko in Ondo State. He holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He also completed executive education programmes at leading global institutions, including the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Professionally, Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, joining the firm in 2001 and rising to the position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
In addition to his professional practice, he is a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
The Senate is expected to consider the nomination in the coming days.
