The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, has warned that terrorists and other violent criminals will find no sanctuary anywhere within Nigeria, declaring that the Nigerian Army will intensify and sustain high-impact operations to decisively defeat all non-state actors threatening national security.
Shaibu gave the assurance on Tuesday while addressing troops during his maiden operational visit to the 4 Special Forces Command and the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Doma, Nasarawa State.
In a statement issued by the Army spokesperson, Apollonia Anele, the Army Chief stressed the strategic importance of precision-driven and intelligence-led operations in dominating the battlespace, noting that Special Forces units remain at the forefront of efforts to dismantle and neutralise terrorist and criminal networks across the country.
He urged Special Forces personnel to intensify and sustain coordinated, high-impact operations aimed at eliminating terrorists, insurgents and other violent groups nationwide.
During the visit, the COAS received detailed operational briefings from the Commander of 4 Special Forces Command, Olurotimi Azubuike Awolo, and the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, Umar Faruk Abubakar.
Expressing satisfaction with the current operational outlook and training standards, Shaibu approved the immediate construction of additional accommodation blocks and key facilities to enhance training capacity, improve operational efficiency and boost troop welfare.
He reaffirmed that the welfare of officers, soldiers and their families remains a top priority under his leadership, stressing that a well-supported and professionally grounded force is critical to sustaining operational dominance.
The Army Chief also pledged continued investment in training, logistics and modern combat enablers to ensure the Special Forces maintain superiority over adversaries and remain capable of responding to evolving security threats within and beyond Nigeria’s borders.
