The Seyi Makinde Disciples, a backing group for Seyi Makinde, has urged members of the Nyesom Wike-aligned faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to return to the party’s constitutionally recognised leadership.

Convener Laja Adeoye made the appeal on Thursday in Lagos, stressing that the party remains open to reconciliation and hopeful that the ongoing leadership crisis would soon be resolved.

Adeoye specifically called on members of the caretaker committee led by Mohammed Abdurahman and Samuel Nwanyanwu to reintegrate peacefully into the party structure recognised by the PDP constitution.

“We are hopeful that all the issues within the party will soon be put behind us. The PDP remains a big family with room for everyone,” he said. “The National Caretaker Committee is not recognised by the law or the party’s constitution. The Wike camp now has the opportunity to return home. Reconciliation will succeed if they return with remorse and a willingness to work with others.”

Adeoye said the recent pronouncement by the Court of Appeal in Ibadan had encouraged party leaders to intensify dialogue, noting that the court effectively set aside the actions of suspended members, including the formation of the caretaker committee.

He described the development as a chance to heal divisions and foster unity among party members, stressing that alignment with leaders such as Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed would help rebuild the party ahead of future elections.

Adeoye also highlighted the PDP’s focus on Lagos politics, promising “people-centred governance” and transparent leadership to reclaim the state from the APC.

“The PDP will return Lagos to its people. The APC-led government has not adequately accounted to residents. We will deliver massive development across the state,” he said, expressing confidence that party unity and voter support would strengthen PDP’s prospects in future elections.

The appeal followed the Court of Appeal’s affirmation of a Federal High Court ruling nullifying the PDP national convention held in Ibadan on November 15–16, 2025. That convention, which produced the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee backed by Makinde and Mohammed, was invalidated.

The appellate court also upheld the suspension of three principal officers, including Senator Samuel Nwanyanwu, linked to the Wike-backed faction.
