Grammy-winning Nigerian music star Burna Boy has set a new milestone in the global music industry after grossing over $1 million from a single concert in Oceania.
The singer, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, achieved the feat during the Sydney stop of his No Sign Of Weakness world tour.
The concert, held at Qudos Bank Arena, generated $1.117 million in revenue, making him the first African artist to earn more than $1 million from a single concert in the Oceania region.
According to data released by Touring Data, the performance formed part of Burna Boy’s record-setting No Sign Of Weakness tour.
The tour monitoring platform revealed that the tour has also become the highest-grossing tour by an African artist in Oceania’s history.
Touring Data reported that the Oceania leg of the tour generated a total of $3.1 million from 31,000 tickets sold across four shows.
Figures released by the platform showed that the Australian segment of the tour sold 30,946 tickets across the four concerts.
The data further indicated that the shows recorded an average ticket price of $100.94.
Each performance on the tour generated an average revenue of approximately $772,791.
Burna Boy’s No Sign Of Weakness tour spanned 20 shows across three continents, including North America, Europe and Oceania.
With the Sydney concert, the Nigerian Afrobeats star also achieved another historic milestone.
He became the first African artist to gross more than $1 million from a single concert on three different continents.
The achievement further reinforces Burna Boy’s growing influence on the global music stage and highlights the increasing international appeal of African music.
