The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, conveyed the minister’s congratulations to Muslim faithful for successfully completing the fasting period.
Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to uphold the values of discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace cultivated during Ramadan, stressing the importance of national unity and coexistence.
He also encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the continued peace, stability, and prosperity of the country.
