The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio to ensure full disclosure of officials implicated in the alleged missing ₦210 trillion linked to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, warning of legal action if its demands are ignored.

In a letter dated March 21, 2026, and signed by its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP urged Akpabio to direct the Senate Public Accounts Committee to publish the names and designations of all those under investigation, regardless of status.

The organisation also demanded the public release of key details of the ongoing probe, including audit reports, financial records, official communications, and timelines for hearings and conclusion of the investigation.

The Senate committee is currently probing allegations that about ₦210 trillion in NNPCL accounts between 2017 and 2023 remains unaccounted for, amid concerns over discrepancies, unreconciled figures, and inadequate documentation.

SERAP stressed that transparency is critical to establishing the credibility of the claims and preventing any perception of a cover-up or political interference.

It warned that failure to act within seven days of receiving the letter would prompt the organisation to initiate legal proceedings to compel compliance in the public interest.

The group further criticised delays in the probe, noting that repeated failure of some officials to appear before the committee undermines public confidence and risks compromising the integrity of the investigation.

SERAP maintained that full disclosure, including publication of proceedings, evidence, and timelines, is essential to ensure accountability and restore public trust in the management of Nigeria’s oil revenues.
