IGP Disu Orders Sweeping Redeployment of Senior Police Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved a wide-ranging redeployment of senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force in a move aimed at boosting operational effectiveness, strengthening leadership, and enhancing service delivery nationwide.

The development was announced on Tuesday in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid.

According to the statement, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) have been reassigned to key departments and zonal commands. AIG Ado Emmanuel was posted to the Department of Research and Planning at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, while AIG Joseph Eribo was deployed to the Department of Armament. AIG Miller G. Dantawaye will now head the Department of Operations, and AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche takes charge of Training and Development.

Other postings include AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo to Police Accounts and Budget at Force Headquarters, AIG Dahiru Mohammed to Zone 15, Maiduguri, and AIG Dankombo F. Morris to Zone 4, Makurdi. AIG Bello Shehu was assigned to Zone 14, Katsina, while AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba moves to Legal Services. AIG Ahmed Musa will oversee Community Policing, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh heads to Zone 2, Lagos, and AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom takes over at the FCID Annex, Lagos. AIG Haruna Olufemi was posted to the Special Protection Unit at Force Headquarters.

The shake-up also affected several Commissioners of Police (CPs), who have been redeployed to various state commands and strategic units. CP Haruna Alaba Yahaya was assigned to Jigawa State Command, CP Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola to Oyo State, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to Delta State, CP Olubode Ojajuni to Ogun State, and CP Michael Adegoroye Falade to Ekiti State Command.

Similarly, CP Yakubu Useni Dankaro was posted to Adamawa State, CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed to the Federal Capital Territory, and CP Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai to Lagos State Command. Others include CP Morkwap S. Dongshal to Taraba, CP Ahmed Mohammed Bello to Zamfara, CP Umar Ali Fagge to Katsina, and CP Hayatu Shaffa Hassan to Sokoto State Command.

Further appointments include CP Akan Ezima as Director of the NPF National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja, CP Abbas Sule to the Special Protection Unit, and CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue to INTERPOL, Abuja. CP Mnwadiogbu Cletus was named Deputy Commandant of the Police Academy, while CP Danjuma I. Yahaya was posted to the General Investigation Section at FCID Annex, Kaduna.

Additional redeployments span key formations, including SWAT, INTERPOL Annex Lagos, Police College Ikeja, Special Fraud Unit Ikoyi, and various departments within Force Headquarters.

The police leadership said the redeployments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Force’s command structure and ensure optimal distribution of personnel across commands and operational units.

The IGP urged the affected officers to apply their experience in their new assignments and maintain the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and public service.
