Hon. Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas has resigned from his position as Federal Commissioner representing the North-East on the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, citing his intention to contest in the 2027 general elections.

In a resignation letter dated March 30, 2026, and addressed to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Namdas said his decision was in compliance with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requiring political appointees with electoral ambitions to step down, in line with Section 88(1) of the Electoral Act 2026.

Namdas noted that his resignation would enable him to fully pursue his political aspiration ahead of the next election cycle. He did not specify the elective position he intends to contest.

The former commissioner expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve on the NDDC board, describing his tenure as one marked by collaboration with other members to advance the administration’s development agenda.

He also thanked colleagues and stakeholders for their support during his time in office, reaffirming his commitment to national service.

His resignation adds to a growing list of political appointees stepping down in preparation for the 2027 elections, following the President’s directive aimed at ensuring a level playing field in the electoral process.
