In a historic step toward reinforcing traditional governance and unity, the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, has formally recognized and inducted three new Wari-Alapu (House Chiefs) into the prestigious Bonny Chiefs’ Council.
The colourful ceremony took place on June 28, 2025, at the King Perekule Palace and drew dignitaries, elders, and citizens of Bonny Kingdom in celebration of tradition and continuity.
The newly admitted Chiefs are:
1. Se-Alabo Dr. Daddy Ibiewotogha Dappa Allison – Nwaoju Allison Chieftaincy House
2. Se-Alabo Adienyesigha John Phillip Halliday – Halliday Chieftaincy House
3. Se-Alabo Sotonye Banigo – Banigo Chieftaincy House
With their induction, they are now formally recognized as Se-Alabo (Country Chiefs) in the kingdom’s revered traditional institution.
In his royal address, the Amanyanabo reminded the new Chiefs that chieftaincy is not merely a title but a call to serve with wisdom, humility, fairness, and loyalty to the kingdom’s enduring values. He emphasized that their elevation comes with the sacred duty of fostering peace, unity, and development in Bonny.
The palace media spokesperson, Warisenibo Christian Ezekiel-Hart, confirmed the appointments and highlighted the King’s commitment to upholding tradition while embracing new perspectives to advance the kingdom.
With this move, the Bonny Chiefs’ Council welcomes fresh voices poised to strengthen the cultural, social, and political fabric of one of Nigeria’s most historically significant kingdoms.
