The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a comprehensive Youth Agribusiness Training Programme aimed at empowering young people, enhancing food security, and driving sustainable economic growth across the state.

The initiative, which targets indigenes of Rivers State with interest and passion for agriculture, is designed to provide practical skills, modern knowledge, and entrepreneurial capacity across key agricultural value chains. These include crop production, livestock farming, aquaculture, agro-processing, agribusiness management, and agricultural technology.

The programme was announced in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Engr. Victor Kii.

According to the state government, the programme aligns with Governor Fubara’s vision of youth empowerment, job creation, and economic diversification, while repositioning agriculture as a viable and profitable sector for young people.

Participants will undergo hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to modern agribusiness practices, with the aim of enabling them to become self-reliant, competitive, and productive contributors to the state’s economy. The training is also expected to promote innovation, value addition, and the development of market-driven agricultural enterprises.

The Rivers State Government has urged interested youths with genuine interest in agribusiness to take advantage of the opportunity, describing the programme as part of its broader commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and securing a resilient and prosperous future for the state.

The training is scheduled to hold from January 19 to January 29, 2026, at the School-to-Land Authority, Centre of Excellence, Rumuodomaya, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, with daily activities commencing at 12 noon.
