The Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Dr. Benibo Anabraba, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dr. Anabraba registered as a member of the ruling party on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Ward 1, Unit 1, Bob-Manuel’s Compound, Abonnema, in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Speaking after the registration, the SSG said his decision to join the APC formally confirms his identity as a party member and enables him to actively participate in the party’s activities. He explained that the move would also allow him to better support Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s “Rivers First” mission, as well as the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to him, a stronger synergy between the Rivers State Government and the Federal Government is expected to translate into greater benefits for the people of the state.
Dr. Anabraba had earlier announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a letter titled “Resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)”, in which he described the decision as personal. He expressed gratitude to the PDP for the political opportunities and experience gained during his time in the party and wished it well in the future.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by Juliana Masi, Head of Information and Public Relations Unit, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, dated January 5, 2026.
