The management of Rivers State University (RSU) has announced the postponement of its 2025/2026 first semester examinations, shifting the commencement date to Monday, March 9, 2026.
The decision was conveyed in an internal memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar and dated February 18, 2026. The memo, signed by the Acting Registrar, Dr Idanyingi I. Daminabo, was addressed to heads of campuses, provosts, deans of faculties, directors of institutes and centres, heads of departments and units, staff, students and notice boards.
According to the memorandum, the examinations, which were earlier scheduled to begin on Monday, February 23, 2026, were deferred to allow students at the Emohua Campus to recover lost lecture hours occasioned by earlier academic disruptions.
The university management also said the new date would give students who are yet to pay their school fees and complete course registration the opportunity to regularise their status before the commencement of the examinations.
“Students are encouraged to pay their school fees and/or register their courses before the commencement of the examination,” the memo stated.
The Registrar further reminded students that the institution’s policy of “No Fee Payment, No Exams; No Course Registration, No Exams” remains in force and will be strictly enforced.
The memo noted that the latest directive supersedes an earlier notice issued on February 17, 2026.
Students and staff have been advised to take note of the revised schedule and make necessary adjustments ahead of the new examination date.
