THE FATE OF NNADI KALU IN SOKOTO PRISON

The  safety of the convicted leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) Mazi Nnadi Kalu, who is a strong voice against the Fulani/ Hausa domination and terror groups in Nigera will be on the balance as Federal Government of Nigeria transferred him from DSS custody to a prison facility in Sokoto state.

The Sokoto prison according to former inmate have been describe as a \'Hell\" due to deteriorated condition of the facility, overcrowded cells and harsh environment within it wall. The prison accommodate over 1,500 inmates, with very few Christians and less than 10 percent of inmates and staff that communicate with English. The majority of inmate and warders speaks  Hausa, Fulani, and Buzu, with unreported prevalence of homosexuality among inmates.

Justice Kolawole Omotosho  while delivering the sentence specifically recommended a protective custody due to the sensitivity of his case. And as such Nnamdi Kanu is to be kept in Special Custody Condition, a kind of prison inside a prison, a sector for tough criminals and restricted movement, far away from family, friends and associates.
